Congratulations to the entire student body for surpassing this years goal of reading 9,500 books. The official amount read this year was 10,301 books. Enough to get Mrs. Valencia and Mrs. Olaso on the roof for 24 hours!
This year the class who read the most books was the second grade. Each student received a book from Mrs. Valencia. The student who read the most books during this read-a-thon period was second grader Erickson E. Congratulations to all of them.
Our Read-a-thon received quite a bit of publicity this year. During the course of the day we were visited by KHON TV, KITV, StarAdvertiser, Catholic Herald, and Midweek. Mahalo to Mrs. Kamisugi for getting these people to come on campus.
According to the students, it was fun seeing their friends, teaches, and themselves on TV.
As with all activities there is a lot of work behind the scenes. We would like to thank Mrs. Valencia, Mr. Tony, Mr. D, Mr. Valencia, the students who helped set up and take down our tent city, and the many people who came to visit and bring us food, the staff who shot us with nerf bullets in the middle of the night, the families who brought us supplies to make us more comfortable, and the community for cheering us on.
